Why Child and Student sponsorships?

There is a direct link between poverty and educational achievement. One of the root effects of those trapped in poverty is that their children have limited opportunities to learn. The poor do not get a chance to move out of poverty because they are denied access to the means of acquiring skills and knowledge; consequently poverty perpetuates poverty. We believe that by increasing the opportunities of the poor to enroll at all levels of education we will make use of one of the most sustainable instruments available to end this cycle in underprivileged communities.

What is the expected cost of funding these sponsorships?

We require students to apply for these sponsorships. Included on the application form are questions asking for financial information which will be used to determine need. If we conclude that students and their families have sufficient resources to fund some part of their education, we will expect them to do so.
Montana On A Mission has developed a partnership with the Central Visayan State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT). Currently the cost of educating a student at this school is $70.00 per month.

How do I participate?

There are three ways to sponsor:

Full sponsor: You can chose to fully sponsor a student either with an annual one-time gift or commit to a monthly donation.

Giving Group: Form a Giving Group with your friends or your small group to contribute the full sponsorship amount. A Giving Group allows members to only contribute what they feel led to give, but all members still receive the same benefit of a Full Sponsor.

Partial Sponsor: Commit to a minimum monthly gift of $25 towards a Student Sponsorship and we’ll match you with other Partial Sponsors to fully fund a student.

How does sponsorship work?
As a new sponsor, you’ll fill out a short survey and be matched with a student with similar interests. Next, you’ll receive your student’s photo, personal story and a complete student sponsorship packet. You’ll be an important part of your student’s success by being on their support and prayer team. You’ll receive periodic updates and communication with our staff and the student on how to best support and pray for your student. Sponsoring a student will profoundly change the future of your student – and may impact your own life in the process!
